Establishing School Gardens in Urban “Concrete Jungle” Areas

Let it not be said that farming cannot occur because you do not have a wide-open field of land. Gone are those days!

Today, the AGRCS 4-H Clover Buddies welcomed their hydroponic system at their school. This has been a vision for a while and when dreams actualize, it is good to share, to bring hope, and to send the message that what you can dream, can happen. Through fundraising and generous donations, there is now a 150+ plant hydroponic system in our small garden space.

The girls were excited to assist with the setting up of the system and further learning how to operate it. They especially enjoyed the nutrient application (the most important part, apart from ensuring the water is flowing through the system well). The 4-H Clover Buddies are looking forward to a great harvest of lettuce in the coming three weeks.

Special Thanks go to Mr. Sean Austin from Sean’s Rabbitry and Aquaponic Produce who did a great job with ensuring the girls knew exactly what they had to do going forward.
