Structure

The 4-H Team

The 4-H team is made up of young people and adults who work together in an attempt to fulfill the 4-H mission.
It comprises:

  • club members
  • club executive
  • project leader(s)
  • voluntary leader(s)
  • “support” to the 4-H movement
  • families of 4-H members
  • interested adults
  • community support
  • staff from the Ministry of Agriculture Land and Marine Resources
  • staff from Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs
  • staff from Ministry of Community Development

The 4-H movement is governed by the National 4-H Council of Trinidad and Tobago.

ORGANIZATION OF A 4-H CLUB

The voluntary leader, having obtained the support of members, the consent of their parents/guardians, the consent of the principal (if in the school system) should hold a meeting with the members. He should explain the objectives of the club, the responsibilities and duties of the members and club executive, and outline the type of projects which members may be asked to undertake. The members present should then elect the necessary officers who will manage the club’s affairs for the following year.

Officers to be elected include:-
The Secretary – who keeps a list of members names and reports of meetings

  • The President – who presides over the club’s meetings

  • The Vice President – who handles President’s duties in his/her absence and works with committees

  • The Assistant Secretary – who assists the Secretary when necessary

  • The Treasurer – who handles all finances
  • The Assistant Treasurer – who assists the treasurer when
    necessary
  • The Public Relations Officer – who publicizes the club’s activities.
