Since 2022, the 4-H Leaders Council of Trinidad and Tobago (4-HTT), under the distinguished leadership of Mrs. Natasha Lee, has partnered with the Chaplaincy of Migrants in the Anglican Dioceses of Trinidad and Tobago, led by Fr. Jesus Latan, to provide meaningful support to migrants and underprivileged communities across Trinidad.
This strategic collaboration represents a shared commitment to compassion, stewardship, and sustainable national development. Together, both organizations have mobilized volunteers, resources, and expertise to respond to the pressing needs of vulnerable families, with most non-perishable items being sourced through the kind efforts of Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life (FEEL).
Grounded in the 4-H pledge — Head to clearer thinking, Heart to greater loyalty, Hands to larger service, and Health to better living — the initiative exemplifies youth-driven social responsibility in action.
Through Head, members apply knowledge and leadership skills to organize structured outreach programmes, agricultural support initiatives, and coordinated food drives. Through Heart, they demonstrate empathy and solidarity with migrant families and economically disadvantaged households. Through Hands, they provide direct service by distributing hot meals, food hampers, clothing, hygiene supplies, and volunteer assistance. Through Health, they promote nutrition, food security, and holistic well-being by encouraging the cultivation and distribution of healthy, locally grown foods.
The partnership places strong emphasis on sustainable solutions, including backyard gardening, food security education, and youth volunteerism. These efforts not only address immediate needs but also empower communities with tools for long-term resilience.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with the tenets of the Anglican Dioceses of Trinidad and Tobago, which emphasize service to the poor and marginalized, justice and human dignity, stewardship of resources, and faith expressed through action. By working alongside Fr. Jesus Latan, chaplain of migrants, 4-HTT reinforces these principles while fostering intergenerational collaboration between church leaders and youth volunteers.
Under Mrs. Lee’s leadership, 4-HTT continues to champion partnerships that extend beyond traditional agricultural training. The organization affirms its enduring commitment to nation-building by cultivating compassionate leaders who safeguard health and promote sustainable community development.
As the 4-H Leaders Council of Trinidad and Tobago and the Anglican Archdiocese advance their mission, this partnership stands as a model of how youth organizations and faith-based institutions can unite to transform lives. These organizations are about to embark on a reading programme for the children of the migrant families. As such, they are seeking the public’s assistance to acquire small tables, chairs, and stationery items. Together, we continue to nurture resilience, restore hope, and strengthen communities throughout Trinidad.
