4-HTT meets in Tobago, May 2024

The 4-H General Meeting in Tobago was a remarkable event held at the Buccoo Integrated Facility, bringing together the 4-H Executive Team and Voluntary Leaders from the nine counties: St. Patrick East, St. Patrick West, St. George East, St. George West, Caroni, Nariva/Mayaro, St. Andrew/St. David, Victoria, and Tobago. This assembly aimed to discuss plans and initiatives for the period 2024-2026, with a strong emphasis on agriculture and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Brooks, President of the Tobago County, introduced key stakeholders from the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), including:

  • Nathisha Charles Pantin, The Division’s Secretary
  • Cherry-Ann Edwards-Louis, Administrator of the Division
  • Vaughn Edwards, Technical Officer

Mrs. Pantin emphasized the importance of 4-H as a beacon of hope and opportunity for young people in Tobago. She highlighted the critical role of 4-H leaders in fostering a community of young leaders passionate about agriculture, especially as food security becomes increasingly vital for the economy. She hopes to see all 4-H schools in Tobago actively participating in these efforts.

Many plans are in store for 4-H clubs across the island including an extensive onboarding drive to get to schools who are yet to start 4-H clubs into the 4-HTT family. Stay tuned for more as we continue to engage Trinbago youth and work “to make the best better”.
