World Food Day 2024 – “Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future”
Love, Love, love and more love in the house. World Food Day Celebrations in Tobago
Written by Gamali Waldron
The Tobago World Food Day 2024 celebration was a vibrant, two-day showcase of sustainable agriculture, innovation, and community spirit. The 4H Tobago booth Themed “Small Space, Big Yield,” drew crowds from all walks of life, who explored interactive exhibits highlighting Microgreens, Container Gardening, and Kratky Hydroponics.
This attracted students, parents, teachers, and the elderly, all eager to learn about accessible ways to grow their own produce. Engaging demonstrations, hands-on activities, and inspiring discussions left attendees motivated to bring agricultural innovation into their lives. The atmosphere was electric, celebrating food security, sustainability, and the power of community-led farming initiatives.
Mr. Patason Brooks, President of The Tobago 4-H Executive Council, engaged visitors to the 4-H booth and explained the rollout of 4-H projects.
A highlight of the event was a special visit from the 4-H Clover Buddies, their parents and voluntary leaders from the Arima Girls’ R.C. Primary School in Trinidad, who joined local students, parents, and teachers to explore accessible ways to grow fresh produce.
It was visible how much fun these young ladies had, immersing themselves in the cultural aspects of Tobago.
The 4H Tobago Executive Council hopes to see more Trini 4-Hers next year.
